Mother bear and cub near Scugog River in Lindsay

Kawartha Lakes Police Service has received the report of a mother bear, who is believed to have been separated from her cub.

It is believed the mother bear is on the east side of the Scugog River, while the cub is on the west side in the area of Melbourne Street.

KLPS is liaising with the Ministry of Natural Resources to respond to this situation.

All efforts possible are being taken to protect the public while also ensuring the safety of the animals.

Please keep children and pets inside.

If you see the bears, do not attempt to feed them, approach them or try to take photos.

Please consider keeping pet food, garbage or other attractants inside.

Please call KLPS at 705-324-5252 if you see the bears.
