Man arrested after breaking into ex-girlfriend’s home

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged after Kawartha Lakes Police received a 911 call to a Glenelg Street West home early Tuesday morning.

Shortly after midnight police responded to a 911 call for a domestic disturbance at the address. When police arrived, it was found that a couple had been involved in a verbal argument.

Officers on scene recognized the man as being wanted on another matter, and he was arrested. He was also instructed by his girlfriend that he was no longer welcome at her home.

The man was released from custody later in the morning and immediately returned to the girlfriend’s home and broke in. Another argument ensued which resulted in the man assaulting the woman. Police returned to the residence and located the man hiding in the kitchen. He was arrested and detained in custody.

The 21-year-old man from Lindsay was charged with break and enter and assault with a weapon.

He will appear in the Lindsay Court of Justice on Dec. 14. The name of the man will not be released to protect the privacy of the victim.
