Two Kawartha lakes websites have received international recognition as part of the 2018 Hermes Creative Awards from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).

The Kawartha Lakes Tourism website found at www.explorekawarthalakes.com has been named a Gold winner in the Tourism Website category and the City of Kawartha Lakes municipal website has received an honourable mention in the Government website category.

“Our vision for the website was to make trip planning easy and promote Kawartha Lakes as a premiere tourist destination,” said Laurie McCarthy, tourism development officer. “We are honoured to receive the Gold Hermes Award and will continue to use our website as a tool to grow tourism in Kawartha Lakes.”

The Hermes Awards receive more than 6,000 entries each year. AMCP judges select winners whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

In 2017, the city launched both the City of Kawartha Lakes and Kawartha Lakes Tourism websites with support from Kawartha Lakes Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) which invested $100,000 for website development under the Eastern Ontario Development Program’s Community Innovation stream and with the support of the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
