Lindsay man charged in sexual assault

A 27-year-old Lindsay man has been charged with sexual assault and several other criminal offences after he forced his girlfriend to have sex with him on the weekend.
Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted at 12:30 pm yesterday by a woman who reported that her boyfriend had sexually assaulted her earlier in the day. An investigation indicated the couple had been involved in a relationship for about three months.
The couple began to argue last Saturday, say Police, which resulted in the man leaving for a period of time and returning later in the day. The man spent the night at the woman’s home and then forced her to have sexual intercourse with him early Sunday morning. The couple continued to argue, and the man left the home again. The woman immediately contacted the police to report the sexual assault.
The man was arrested later in the day and will attend the Lindsay, Court of Justice for a bail hearing today, charged with sexual assault, failing to comply with a recognizance and failing to comply with a probation order.
The name of the man is being withheld to protect the privacy of the woman.
