Lindsay Canadian Club to learn about being a bird-friendly community

Kawartha Bird Control owner and operator Zachary Steele will be addressing the Lindsay Canadian Club on April 10.

The Lindsay Canadian Club is inviting members of the public to the sixth and final event of its 2023-2024 season: “For Our Birds,” which takes place on April 10, 2024.

Kawartha Lakes is looking to become a Bird Friendly City. What does this mean in a municipality already well-known for its ospreys, owls, and other species of winged creatures? In this exciting and informative presentation, Kawartha Bird Control owner and operator Zachary Steele will discuss bird conservation in Kawartha Lakes, and what we can do to be more bird-friendly citizens, whether in town or countryside.

Zachary Steele is a conservationist, falconer, and owner of Kawartha Bird Control – a local bird control and bird conservation company. Since studying at Fleming College and working in natural resources for years, Steele has merged his passion for flying birds of prey with conserving both the urban and natural habitats we often find them and other birds in.

The Lindsay Canadian Club meets at the Royal Canadian Legion (12 York Street, Lindsay), and encourages everyone to grab a bite to eat downtown before coming to events, which get underway at 7:00 p.m. Members are reminded that the April 10 event is preceded by the 2023-2024 Annual General Meeting, which will begin at 6:45 p.m.

Non-members can pay via the Lindsay Canadian Club’s website or at the door. Admission for this event is $10 ($5 for students), and a season’s membership can be purchased for $50 ($25 for students).
