A leading medical expert will open this year’s diabetes health fair at the Lindsay Recreation Complex on World Diabetes Day, Nov. 14.

“We’re so pleased to be able to bring Dr. Peter Lin to the community to kick off our Diabetes Health Fair,” says Cheryl Carl, Ross Memorial Hospital coordinator of clinical nutrition and diabetes education.

“A lot of people in the community will be familiar with Dr. Lin as a health columnist on CBC Radio. On World Diabetes Day, Dr. Lin will discuss the links between diabetes and heart disease, both of which impact a significant section of our local population.”

Dr. Lin is the director of primary care Initiatives at the Canadian Heart Research Centre. He was one of the authors in the vascular protection section of the Canadian Diabetes Guidelines in 2013 and will be part of the 2018 Diabetes Canada Guidelines.

Dr. Lin’s presentation will take place from 9-10 am.

The health fair runs until 1 pm. Participants can meet local diabetes health professionals, learn the signs and risks of diabetes, and most importantly, how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
