“When my pool closed for winter I started swimming at the Lindsay Recreation Complex. I started with twice a week and now go four or five times a week. I have lost over 60 pounds and am in the best health I have ever been in, as an adult,” she says.

“Besides the swimming, I fell in love with the diving board again after 30-plus years, and learned all the lifeguards’ names as they said hi and goodbye to me every time I went.”

“I owe more to the (rec centre) staff and swimming pool than I could ever express,” says Mechefske.

Participants will have 15 minutes for each discipline with a 10 minute transition between swimming and biking.

The cost to register is $50 for members and $60 for non-members.

All participants will receive a long sleeve technical tee and a protein smoothie courtesy of Fresh Fuell.

Volunteers are needed to assist with this event.
