Kawartha Lakes This Week building up for sale

Team Brad Bird has listed 192 St. David St. in Lindsay – the home of Kawartha Lakes This Week – up for sale.

The Advocate reached out to the realtor’s office to find out if it would be vacant before a new buyer purchased it and they said it would be.

But in a brief interview with the Advocate, Mary Babcock, the regional general manager of This Week who is based in Peterborough, says “that hasn’t been agreed upon.”

When asked if Kawartha Lakes This Week did leave the building would they commit to relocating to another address in Lindsay or somewhere in the City of Kawartha Lakes, Babcock replied, “We’re committed to the area.”

This Week also published a short notice online, which they have shared with the Advocate.

We want to be the first to tell you that your “number-one source of trusted local news and advertising” is not going anywhere, reads the statement.

“Recently our long-time landlord passed away, and his family has decided to sell the building,” the notice reads.

“The building, and not our business is for sale. For us, it is business as usual and we will continue to deliver the same great news coverage, advertising options and consumer trade shows that you have come to expect. Our office hours will remain unchanged during the sales process,” according to the notice.

“We are proud to be an integral part of the Kawartha Lakes community and we have no plans to change that. It is our home too.”
