Historical society partners with drama students
At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, Canadians from coast to coast pause to remember those who lost their lives in conflicts past and present. November 11th this year marks 100 years since the First World War came to an end with the signing of the Armistice.
On November 11th, the Victoria County Historical Society, in partnership with local churches and I.E. Weldon’s drama students and Writer’s guild, is hosting a special commemorative service — We Will Remember Them: The 100th Anniversary of The Armistice — to mark this important anniversary.
Not only do we remember the many hundreds from Victoria County who made the ultimate sacrifice, we also pay special tribute to those in our community who served in a variety of capacities behind the lines – as nurses, munitions workers, and volunteers who kept the home fires burning between 1914 and 1918.
Local residents and, in particular, the descendants of family members who served in the First World War, are invited to join us in marking this special anniversary.
Featuring the Choir of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, vocalists Sophia, Joey and Natasha Mackey, and other guest musicians, this special service is a moving tribute and time of remembrance.
Nov. 11 at 7 pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 45 Russell Street. West, Lindsay. Pre-service Refreshments, 6:00-6:45 in St. Paul’s parish hall. Everyone welcome.
The Victoria County Historical Society gratefully acknowledges Veterans Affairs Canada’s contribution, which made possible the performances of the guest soloists, and all the Volunteers for making this special commemorative event possible.
