Grade 7/8 students raise funds for Habitat’s Hamilton Street project

By Lindsay Advocate

Habitat for Humanity and St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School students and staff will get together for a cheque presentation on Jan. 22, where students will present a donation of $1,247.35 to Habitat. This will help fund construction on a semi-detached project currently being built on Hamilton Street in Lindsay.

About 39 Grade 7 and 8 students helped to organize a “Christmas Store” fundraiser held in December at St. Dominic school. Students collected new and gently used items over the weeks leading up to the fundraiser.

The Christmas Store was open to all students and staff who purchased items, all priced $2 and under, in support of Habitat. Students will present the donation to the future homeowner family of the Hamilton street home during a school assembly.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit housing organization that brings communities together to help low-income families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable home ownership.
