Foodland loss in Little Britain is not progress

The recent closure of Little Britain's Foodland, previously Casey's IGA, has some Advocate readers concerned. Image courtesy Kawartha Lakes Public Library.

Re: Little Britain Foodland closing for good (March Advocate)

Much like the previous Foodland grocery stores in Woodville, Janetville, and other rural locations, this one will likely be converted to a large-scale convenience store, with a larger selection of beer, wine, and liquor and a limited supply of food staples. That is providing the owner does not ask for ridiculous rent. Coboconk could be next in line as they rely heavily on the cottage traffic in the summer months. For some inane reason, these closures are considered progress. Very sad.
