Farmfest Fun

Local residents and visitors will have an opportunity to experience farm life and celebrate the annual harvest first-hand during the 15th Annual Kawartha Farmfest Sept. 30.
Farmfest is a self-guided driving tour of local farms and agricultural attractions and provides an opportunity to learn about agriculture, try local food, and participate in hands-on activities. Visitors can learn more about each site on the tour here.
“Farmfest is a unique event for families and anyone interested in local food and learning about farming,” said Kelly Maloney, agriculture development officer.
“Many stops on the tour will have farm fresh food for sale and interactive activities for kids.”
Participants will see where their food comes from, meet the farmers and have a chance to interact with the animals including cows, pigs, horses, chickens and more. New this year is Dairyfest at Vosbrae Farm in Manilla which will allow guests to see the equipment used in modern dairy farms and have a hands-on milking experience. Guest can also learn about pasture-raised pigs and turkeys at Three Forks Farm in Bobcaygeon.
Admission stickers will be available in advance at Kawartha Dairy stores in Lindsay and Bobcaygeon, at the City’s Municipal Service Centres, selected libraries or at any of the host sites on Sept. 30 during the event.
Kawartha Farmfest runs from 10 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $5 for adults and free for children under the age of 14. Participants will receive an admission sticker and program passport with a detailed map.
