False report leads to public mischief charge

By Lindsay Advocate

On February 26 a Lindsay man reported to the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service that a theft of his personal property had occurred.

Following this report, the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service initiated an investigation into the alleged incident.

Investigators collected video statements, security footage from a local bank and took steps to identify who was responsible for the theft.

Following a comprehensive investigation, it was determined that a theft did not occur and the complainant had made a false report to the police.

On March 19, 59-year-old Theodore Coleman of Lindsay was arrested and charged with one count of public mischief.

The accused will make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 26.
