Edwin Binney’s Community Garden seeking volunteers

By Lindsay Advocate

United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes is seeking volunteers for Edwin Binney’s Community Garden.

Located on Crayola Canada’s property, Edwin Binney’s Community Garden is a large-scale community garden project that will provide fresh, pesticide-free produce to local food banks, shelters and non-profits working directly with people from our community.

Whether you have a green thumb or are looking to learn something new, there are plenty of ways to get involved. In order to maintain the 30,000 sq. ft. garden, UWCKL is seeking volunteers to help with the following:

  • Watering
  • Weeding and tending to educational garden beds
  • Harvesting fruits and vegetables
  • Sorting produce

This project is also a great way for students to complete their volunteer hours in the summer while spending time outside. Anyone who is interested in volunteering can find the volunteer form on their website at http://ckl-unitedway.ca/volunteer-form/

If you are a member of an existing community group or business and would like to volunteer as a team, please send an email to .
