On January 15 2019, the Council of the City of Kawartha Lakes established the Development Charges Task Force to provide advice and recommendations to staff regarding the formulation of a development charges by-law to replace By-Law 2015-224 (A By-law to Impose Development Charges in the City of Kawartha Lakes).

Task Force members include representatives of the development industry, businesses and the general public. All meetings of the Task Force are public and advertised on the City’s website in accordance with applicable policy.

The Task Force invites stakeholders, businesses and the public to provide input on the formulation of a new development charges by-law targeted to take effect on January 1, 2020. Parties interested in providing input to the Task Force are encouraged to participate in one or more of the following ways:

  • Attend a Task Force meeting: The Task Force has set aside time to specifically consider representations by interested parties at the following upcoming Task Force meeting: May 31, 10 am. Victoria Room, City Hall, 26 Francis Street, Lindsay.

Interested parties unable to attend this meeting are encouraged to make representations at the subsequent Task Force meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for 10am on June 21, 2019 (venue to be determined).

All oral and written representations to the Task Force will be reflected in the public record. As the Task Force is expected to finalize its recommendations in August 2019, interested parties are advised to make representations prior to June 14, 2019. Representations made after June 30, 2019 are unlikely to be considered due to time constraints.
