Climate science gathering talks solutions
Yesterday, around 75 community members in Lindsay attended a presentation addressing latest climate science and the causes and impacts of climate change at the global, national, and local levels.
Local volunteer Climate Leaders Deborah Pearson and Ginny Collins gave an overview of the linkages between human activities and the intensification of natural disasters including floods and droughts.
Current and potential solutions were presented, but it was very clear to the presenters and audience members — change must happen immediately at all levels to mitigate the effects of climate change.
The presentation is a part of the Climate Reality Project, a non-profit organization led by former US Vice President Al Gore, which is dedicated to education and advocacy surrounding climate change. The presentation was organized and hosted by the Cambridge Street United Church. For more information, visit www.climaterealityproject.org.
