Castle Keep holds drive for Women’s Resources

Candice Watson serves as a volunteer for the local women’s shelter in coordination with Women’s Resources in Lindsay, which supports up to 190 women a month.

Watson is also the customer service manager for Castle Keep Retirement in Lindsay. About 30 per cent of the women who use the shelter’s services are often seniors who leave home in a hurry and don’t have the basics most people would need.

Graham Bashford, owner of Castle Keep, says that as as a team the business did a drive and managed to get hundreds of personal care items such as walkers, commodes, canes, and more. All of this was donated to Women’s Resources.

“Given we have 29 team members and 27 of which are women, we wanted to do a drive that was women helping women and it was very successful,” Bashford says.

Women’s Resources of Kawartha Lakes, is a not-for-profit, charitable organization created and run by local women. They provide programs throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes.
