Building struck in impaired incident
A man was arrested for impaired driving this week after his jeep slid through the intersection of Sussex Street South and Durham Street West and struck a building.
Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted just before 12:30 am on Dec. 27 after witnesses observed a jeep slide through the intersection, strike the building, and then attempt to leave.
When police arrived on the scene, they found a man standing outside of his Jeep a short distance away.
When spoken to by the officer it was determined that the man had been drinking and he complied with a demand to do a roadside screening test for alcohol, which he failed.
The man was then transported to Kawartha Lakes Police Service where he submitted to breath tests indicating that he had consumed in excess of the legal limit.
Now, 23-year-old Nicholas Katcher of Fenelon Township has been charged with impaired driving, exceeding the legal limit of alcohol in his blood and failing to comply with an undertaking.
He will appear in the Lindsay Court of Justice on Jan. 25. The man’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
