Demand national standards in long-term care: KLHC

Long-term care group commends local MPP for new funding for residents

The Kawartha Lakes Health Coalition has started a local campaign in order to pressure our elected officials to advocate and support national standards in long-term care homes.

As of March 18, 3,888 residents have died due to COVID-19 in long-term care homes across the province. Recognizing the failure of governments to protect seniors, the KLHC is mobilizing people to fight back, says a press release.

If you would like to participate, there are four options.

1) Visit https://www.ontariohealthcoalition.ca/index.php/klhc/ to send a prewritten letter to local MP Jamie Schmale demanding he support national standards.

2) Mail walk: Help KLHC deliver information cards to mailboxes in your neighbourhood.

3) Phone Banking: A list of 20 people to phone would be given to gain their support for national standards and to send an email.

4) Donate: KLHC wants to reach as many people in Kawartha Lakes as possible. Visit https://fundly.com/demand-national-standards-in-ckl
