Keyholder, bicycle registration now easier for Lindsay residents

By Lindsay Advocate

The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service is now accepting bicycle registrations, as well as key holder registrations online through our website.

People can now register their bicycles at no cost from the convenience of their own homes. The bicycle is then entered into the police computer database. If the bicycle is later lost, stolen or recovered police will have all information in relation to the bicycle at their disposal to assist with either the investigation or with the return of the bicycle to the owner.

With regard to the keyholder registry, local businesses can register keyholders through a secure portal to ensure that police have an up-to-date list of people to contact in the event of an emergency outside working hours. Even if businesses register their keyholders with their alarm company it is a good idea to register keyholders with police as well in the event that something happens on the business property that does not trigger an alarm with the alarm company.

This allows all business owners peace of mind knowing that should something happen that requires their attendance, police will always have a way to contact them or their designate immediately. If key holders change over time, the business owner may log onto the police portal and update their key holder list.
