Gun amnesty update from police

On April 1 the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service began receiving firearms and ammunition as a part of the April gun amnesty program.

To date, in addition to various calibres of ammunition, the police service has received five shotguns, five rifles and one handgun.

The gun amnesty will continue running until the end of April.

Interested gun owners are encouraged to telephone the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service at (705) 324-5252 to arrange for an officer to attend their residence and retrieve any unwanted firearms or ammunition.

Please remember that under NO circumstances should anyone deliver guns or ammunition directly to the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service facilities.
