Boys and Girls Club rebrands to include all Kawarthas

By Lindsay Advocate

Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes will now be known as BGC Kawarthas. As well, the foundation has become BGC Kawarthas Foundation. “We open our doors to all kids and teens across the Kawarthas and we believe our name should reflect that,” says a media release.

Removing gender from its names modernizes BGC Kawarthas to be inclusive, says a media release, without straying too far from its history and national brand awareness.

“We’re excited for this new identity for so many reasons – it really helps us tell our story about the breadth of our programming and all the communities we serve, from Coboconk, Kirkfield and Little Britain, to Fenelon Falls, Bobcaygeon and Dunsford, to Lindsay, Omemee, Peterborough and Norwood, and so many points in-between,” says Amy Terrill, executive director of the club and foundation.

“Like our new tagline says, Opportunity Changes Everything, and we offer opportunities for one and all.  Now our name better reflects that,” she said of the 51-year-old club.
