Boys and Girls Club announces second session of virtual programming
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes (The Club) is excited to announce the launch of session two of their virtual programming for children and youth across our community. The Club kicked off their first session in November and will begin session two early next year.
Each virtual program has its own focus including education, cooking, science, sports, coping skills and healthy relationships. Programs take place after school from the comfort of the participant’s own home.
Each program is overseen by Club staff, all of whom have received specialized training from the Jays Care Foundation on how to implement best practices for virtual facilitation and programming. The
Club’s priority remains ensuring participant safety, while making the online experience interactive and engaging.
The Club uses the virtual meeting platform Zoom to facilitate all virtual programs. Zoom allows kids to actively interact with leaders and with one another. In order to participate, a computer, laptop, tablet or phone is required.
All sessions are locked once participants are present to ensure safety and confidentiality of the session. The Club strives to prevent barriers for any children or youth in accessing our programs, including access to technology or internet. The Club encourages families to reach out if they have any technology needs as the needed support may be available.
