The royal wedding: Fenelon Falls church has you covered

By Trevor Hutchinson

The cost is $15 – considerably less than a flight to London.

Did your invitation to the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle get lost in the mail? Or perhaps your name got caught up in the international politics of the Trumps, Obamas and Trudeaus not being invited? Or maybe you just want to do something a little less excessive than flying to London now that Harry is only sixth in line to the throne — since the birth of Prince Louis?

Whatever the case, fret not! St. James Anglican Church in Fenelon Falls has got you covered. The church will be holding a fundraiser fashion show and high tea to celebrate the nuptials of Harry & Meghan. The event will start after the actual wedding at 11:30 a.m. (EDT, for the jet-setters amongst us)

The St. James Anglican Church Women were already planning a Spring Wedding & Fashion show when it was announced that Henry would marry an American, I mean, Ms. Markle. ACW member Bev Jeeves figured that since “so many people watch or follow up with a royal wedding to see the wonderful clothes including coats, shoes” and of course hats, the group decided to make this year’s event ‘royal’.

The clothes from the fashion show are being presented by The Village Shoppe – a charming store in downtown Fenelon Falls that has been operated by the Watson family since 1965. The theme of the show, according to organizer Dana Bachman is “spring/summer apparel that guests might wear to a wedding, or party or dinner.  “High Tea” will be served and some English Tunes will accompany the luncheon.”

And for those of us who have been waiting since the last royal wedding to show Princess Beatrice what a proper wedding hat should be, every guest will be given a package at their table to create themselves a fascinator to wear during the fashion show.

The Lindsay Advocate reached out to the Royal Household but they were unavailable for comment.

The Royal Wedding High Tea and Fashion Show takes place Saturday May 24th at St. James Anglican Church (19 Bond St. E., Fenelon Falls) at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $15 – considerably less than a flight to London.
