Young person arrested during drug investigation

On March 21st members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit were conducting a drug investigation in Lindsay.

Officers observed a young person who they knew was wanted on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant from Durham Region for the offences of robbery, assault and weapons offences.

The investigating officers arrested the young person without incident.

Following the arrest, the young person was found to be in possession of several knives as well as a controlled substance.

The young person has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance.

The young person was held in custody to attend a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 22.  As stipulated in the Youth Criminal Justice Ace, the name of the young person cannot be released.
