Short vehicle pursuit leads to charges for Lindsay man

On June 2 a vehicle was stolen from an address on Sussex Street south in Lindsay.

A City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service Constable observed the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it.

However, the driver of the stolen vehicle fled the area and officers located the vehicle a short time later, unoccupied on Highway 35 South.

Investigation led officers to identify the person responsible for the theft and a warrant was issued by the court for his arrest.

On June 20 the man wanted for the vehicle theft was located and arrested.

Charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, flight while pursued by peace officer, take motor vehicle without consent, breach of probation and being unlawfully at large is 35-year-old Michael James Martin of Lindsay.

The accused was held in custody to attend a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 21.
